Francis Robinson CBE (Chairman)

Francis is former Professor of the History of South Asia at Royal Holloway, University of London. He has been Vice-Principal of Royal Holloway and President of the Royal Asiatic Society. He is a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey.

Lady Amanda Ellingworth (Vice-Chairman)

Amanda’s earlier career was in social work, eventually specialising in local authority child protection. More recently she has taken a close interest in health, children's services and adult social care working at a senior level across each of these sectors. Amanda is currently Chair of Plan International UK and Deputy Chair of Barnardo's. She was previously Chair of Southwest Pathology; Chair of Caldecott Foundation and Deputy Chair Yeovil Hospital Foundation Trust.

Ann Kennedy

Ann is a Graduate of the University of Oxford and a qualified solicitor.  Official Fellow and Tutor in Law at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, 1974 to 2007.   From 2007 Fellow and Tutor at Harris Manchester College, Oxford.  Particular interest in property law.

Anne Sofer 

Anne has had a lifetime interest in education, as a politician, writer and administrator. She was an elected member of the Inner London Education Authority from 1977 to 1986, and a columnist for the Times and the Times Education Supplement for much of this period. Between 1989 and 1997, she was the Director of Education for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. She has also had wide experience of trusteeship. She was a founding member of the board of Channel Four Television, has also been a trustee of the Nuffield Foundation, and of the National Children's Bureau, as Chair of the latter for six years.

Now retired, she is still a trustee of a small charity, the Akili Trust, which supports community libraries and student bursaries in small villages in Eastern Kenya.

Dr Gordon Johnson 

Gordon is an historian who has written on India and Cambridge. He edited the academic journal Modern Asian Studies for 37 years and General Editor of the New Cambridge History of India. He was President of Wolfson College, Cambridge from 1993 to 2010, a Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Cambridge 2002-10, chaired Cambridge University Press from 1993 to 2009, and was the first Provost of the Gates Cambridge Trust, 2000-2010. He is the current President of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Gordon is a trustee of Integrity Action and of the Stephen Perse Foundation. He chairs Comberton Academy Trust, which is responsible for a number of schools in the Cambridge area. He is a Liveryman of the Stationers’ Company. 

Sally Vivyan

Sally works in International Development and was a Director at AfriKids (www.afrikids) from 2005-2016. She joined the board as the trust began to give funding to overseas projects in order to bring an international development perspective to decisions. She has a young family and lives in Durham.

David Constable

David is a graduate of the University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences (Mineralogy and Petrology). He joined the British Council in 1962 and worked in Europe and Africa including former Yugoslavia, Nigeria and Zambia until his retirement in 1994. He has a close interest in the welfare of overseas students in the UK and in educational and scientific training and development. David served as Trust Secretary from 2000-2009.
